About Sommelier Sarah
I am a certified sommelier living in Toronto, Ontario. In 2008, I graduated from the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers certified sommelier program at George Brown College. I have since gone on to pass the certified sommelier exam with the Court of Master Sommeliers.
I have received the Sommelier Scholarship from the International Wine and Food Foundation of Canada for achieving the highest academic standing in my graduating class.
Prior to that I completed Wine Fundamentals Level 1 and 2 from the International Sommelier Guild. I have also completed the Level 4 Diploma through the Wine and Spirits Education Trust where I passed "with merit".
Much to my surprise, I placed a very respectable 3rd in The Wine Tasting Challenge in 2008 (presented by the Renaissance Project) in the professional round. They say it's one of the largest wine tasting challenges in North America.
I write articles for such publications as Food and Drink, Cottage Life and Drinks magazines, and I have a
wine blog
where I write about recently tasted wine (sometimes beer and spirits too), Ontario wine and wineries, and anything else interesting in my world of wine.
